Minneapolis tops list of manufacturing businesses; suburbs evenly disperse

- Production in Minnesota is thriving, particularly advanced manufacturing. The seven counties at the core of Minneapolis – St. Paul metro employ approximately 168,404 workers with an average annual wage of nearly $75,000. Manufacturing contributes to thirteen percent of Minnesota’s GDP.
- The City of Minneapolis has the highest count of manufacturing firms – by nearly 300. Meanwhile, first-ring suburbs create a halo of successful med tech, electronic and food and agricultural manufacturers.
