Minneapolis population gain

The Metropolitan Council’s latest population estimates placed 37,374 new residents in Minneapolis since 2010; on pace to reach 450,000 new residents by 2020.

This number translates to nearly a ten percent increase population over and the greatest inflow of new residents since the 1920’s. Comparatively St. Paul gained 19,000 new residents or an increase of seven percent according to the estimates.

Within the context of the seven-county metro, Carver County has also experienced double digit growth rates at ten percent, largely in part to growth seen in Chanhassen and Chaska.
