JLL Minneapolis – St. Paul Snapshots:
Western suburbs subject to worst commute increases by 2030

Minneapolis AM Commute Projection

Overall the Minneapolis metro has it pretty good when it comes to morning commutes. We avoided MSN’s ‘50 Worst Commutes in America’ list, however all growth comes with its share of growing pains.
According to the Metropolitan Council, the far western suburbs adjacent to Lake Minnetonka are expected to have the greatest increase in morning commute times to the Minneapolis CBD by the year 2030. The projection takes into account population, household and employment growth, as well as existing and anticipated highway projects.
The Metropolitan Council forecasts there will be 3.6 million metro residents by 2030 and has budgeted approximately $900M in Congestion Mitigation Funding.
